Problems with the simulation

posted to: Delta Time

My point keeps going off at a 45 degree angle on all 3 axis even though I have the exact same node set up. I even tried starting with a fresh blend file and tried using the node set up on a new object with the same skewed results. Very much enjoying the teaching style and content in the course
EDIT: I realize that I had the named attribute set to float, changed them all to vector, and now nothing happens with the Sim.

    Hi Cory,

Just guessing, but are all your connections still intact? Switching Data Types will usually break connecting Noodles.

You can also post a screenshot of your Node Setup here.

I think Spikey has the answer, it can be a frustration and go unnoticed, when changing data types the noodle disconnects.
Probably because the output value has changed, Blender expects the original connection will need to change too.

Good idea, but I did catch that they disconnected. I got it resolved though!  I disabled several addons that I had added from other projects, re-opened the file and low and behold it started working. Very bizarre indeed, but thank you so much for y'all's support!

Yes, third party Addons can indeed mess things up in blender.

I am having this problem too but strangely enough it was in the earlier lesson.  How I fixed that was I was using the regular math node and not the Vector Math node?  Could that help you?

Unfortunately, this hasn't helped here.  I am missing something.  Once I find, I will certainly check back to this question and see whether this has been resolved or not.

Edit:  I noticed I change the Vector Math nodes away from Scale and apply Multiply instead, then it works.  Scale is doing something on all vectors and not limiting to Z.  Wondering now what does he do that's different now that Scale was applied to his blend file.

Edit:  I got mine working.  As odd as it sounds, I just made sure my Vector and Delta Time were in the same receptors of the Vector Math node.

Could add this to my edit above...this worked for me.
