Prevent mode syncing in multiple 3d viewports

Question

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to prevent multiple 3d views from syncing work modes. For example, if I slpit my workspace into two 3d views, both are in object mode, if I change one to edit mode, the other also changes. Its driving me nuts.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't. If I remember it is done that way on purpose.

You can Control + Space bar with your mouse hovering over any window to make it full screen, and that same hotkey again to go back, that way you can change the view momentarily to any viewport you want.

Hi Omar, unfortunatley the work mode syncs across new windows and even across workspaces.

What is your goal?  If you want to see the state of an object like armature or other decorations while in edit mode, there is a way to do that.

The visibility buttons on a given modifier have two buttons at the left which will “preview” the modifier’s effect when active.
