I can see that you're having a very hard time with texture painting and with this course. I'm sorry for the frustration.

While of course our courses aren't perfect and aren't 100% all encompassing, as no educational content is, please understand that computer graphics is a complex thing to learn. As is Blender a complex thing to learn. So please be patient, ask questions calmly and politely and we will do our best to ensure that you learn.

Thanks. Is it possible for me to start with "Fundamentals of shading" and then come back to this with a fresh mind? If not, do you have any other recommendation on where I can learn about texturing? And then come back to "Fundamentals of texturing"? Sorry if I sounded rude. I was just frustrated.

You’re welcome to bounce around the flow and watch any course in any order. Perhaps watching Fundamentals of Shading will shed light on the importance and reason for textures.

Also, the best context for witnessing textures utilized is this course: https://cgcookie.com/course/shading-fundamentals-in-blender-render/

It's an advanced course but at least you'll be able to see why this stuff is important.
