Hello,
I'm using Blender 4.0.2 on macOS, and I'm having issues with using the fill, near the 2:45 mark.
Pressing Shift+K does nothing while in vertex paint mode, and I noticed that in Blender 4, the vertex color is no longer called 'vertex' and rather is referred to as 'attribute.' However once you choose attribute in the viewport shading, and use Shift+X (Cmd+X), the instructions work as described.
This was giving me nearly a panic attack as with Blender, you never know if you've gotten something wrong somewhere and trying to track down a setting could take an entire day.
I'm still curious though as to if this is the correct methodology, or if I am doing this incorrectly in a new way the course hasn't accounted for. Is this the right way to be doing things?
HI decoybird ,
In 4.0 some shortcuts have been changed. Indeed, in Vertex Paint, SHIFT+K has been changed to CTRL+X (CMD+X on MacOS).
When in Vertex Paint Mode, you don't need to set the Viewport Shading to Attribute. Only the Shortcut has been changed.
Also the most important thing is to do the course with the Blender version that is being used, that way you avoid such headaches. You may get a bit of OCD that you're not using the latest Blender version, that is your mind playing tricks on you, you're not missing out on anything. Totally recommend using the Blender version that goes with the course 🤘🏼
decoybird I'll second Omar's suggestion to use the matching version of Blender that a given course is recorded with. It really is the most effective way to learn Blender with our courses and abroad. Check out this article for more info about this approach.
