Best practice for exporting model?

I just finished this series and loved it! I want to tackle the husky challenge, but in the interest of moving a bit faster I might move on with the fundamentals playlist and come back to it once I can potentially also texture it, rig it, and animate it too!

But before I forget, here's a question: what is the best practice if I wish to export the model later on (either saved on my asset browser, or fully export an obj or glb file? Do you apply all modifiers? Do you merge all meshes into one single object?

I know eventually this question will unfold into materials, textures, and so on... but I'll bug you guys on that later... lol.

An asset saved in the asset browser will only be available in Blender.

If you want to export the model to other software, such as Unreal, you will need to export the model via File > Export, and select fbx, obj, or any other file type required.

This export process will give you some options, one being apply modifiers. This is the best time to apply the modifiers.
Keeping the modifiers intact in Blender will keep the model in the non-destructive workflow, meaning it's easier to make changes later if you need to.

Cool, I didn't know it would give us the option at export. Thanks Adrian!

Kent always stresses that fact, that it is better to model following all the modeling rules and not only Blender hacks because when you want to export your model will work for any software, which is great.
