Replies to submissions? Z-Fighting fix.

Does replying in submissions work the same as here with these forum questions? I had some follow up questions on this submission and the shark sculpting one and not sure they actually go through.

So I'll quickly ask here just in case:

dostovel, you mentioned " There is a bit of z-fighting in the windows caused by two faces being right on top of the other and Blender can't decide which to put forward..."

I did notice that too, same with floor in front of the garage door.

How do you normally go about avoiding/fixing that? I had the vertices of the windows snap the walls as to make sure they were on the same plane, but would you remove the faces behind the glass? Or would you move the windows an infinitesimal amount away from the wall.

I had the windows as separate objects so I could easily duplicate them, if it makes a diference.

    Hi Nathalia,

I'd cut holes in the wall where the windows are (you'd need to do that anyway, if you are going to use materials and a proper Render, so you can see inside).

If it is just a clay version and you are not going to do anything with it later, you could indeed just move the windows away from the walls a bit (won't be considered best practice though, so better not show your .blend to another modeler...)

😅 noted. Thanks Martin, I'll cut some holes. Don't have anything planned for it, but we never know 🤷🏽‍♀️

As Martin says, according to your need, either is fine. Though since the goal is all about practice and learning, I'd go with cutting holes in the walls. I'm glad that's the option you went with 🤘🏼

That's the goal! These fundamentals courses here are 🔥 for that! And this community being so active is the cherry on top!

I wish I had gotten into it before, now making it up for the lost time and flooding you guys with silly questions lol

Archipack and other archviz addons use a Boolean modifier instead of cutting holes. That way you can move the windows or replace them easily. Just another option to add to your modeling arsenal.
