We haven't used or touched on any of the other sky textures. Are the other options more recent than the videos, or is it that they are not really noteworthy?
ps. I'm sorry if they were mentioned later with the Eevee section. I've only watched the cycles chapter for now.
There is only 1 sky texture node in blender. They have added a new setting to that since 2.82. Is that what you're talking about? Or are you talking about the environment Texture node? There is also the Dynamic Sky addon that comes with blender, but that creates a bunch of nodes.
I guess I'm talking about Sky Types? This little drop down menu when we use a Sky Texture node.
When cycles started you only had the first 2 option. Preetham is used for when you're flying in the sky. Hosek/Wilkie was used for when you where closer to the ground or on the ground. Basically when you need a horizon line. The newer Nishita gives a more realistic sky from my understanding. I haven't use sky node in awhile. I tend to use HDRi or EXR with sky and lighting layers.
Thank you! I guess with most things Blender, there are just 5 different (all right) ways to do something, and we just have to play with it to see what the options are and what fits the job and our style. Thank you all for the tips!
