Flattening a bottom sculpted edge

Question

Hey there I have this model and realised the bottom wasn't flat after sculpting (see red arrows).

Now I could boolean it out with a cube but it would lose it's nice rough edging and go back to it's base mesh edge shape.

I've also tried the Flatten Sculpt tool but this intersects with the mesh.

Any tips on how I could solve this (it will be for a 3d print and I need a flat bottom).

Thanks in advance.

    HI Ross rfranks ,

That is indeed a problem: because the edge itself is not 'flat', you'll have to move parts down and/or others up. Or cut the bottom away (Box trim in Orthgraphic Mode gives a pretty decent result, but it"s a bit like a Boolean).

What you might try, is to Select the bottom in Edit Mode (as good as you can) and then enable Proportional Editing and Scale the Bottom to zero in Z.

I thought this immediately - select all the bottom vertices and scale to 0 on z but had assumed it must be more complicated than that given the level of skill of the OP

It's also not necessary to have the entire base flat, you can have a wide enough part in the center flat and extruded down, and it be extruded down enough that the rough edging wont be a problem to make it stand.
