Hi,
I made a mistake after installing Blender 4.0. I forgot to hit "Load Settings" from my previous version. My first attempt to fix this was to uninstall the new version (4.0) and install it again, but it didn't work—the option to "Load Settings" didn't show up again. So, I searched and found that copying the userpref.blend file to my new Blender version should transfer all my preferences. However, that didn't work either.
Do you have any other suggestions? Is there really no way to recover my settings?
Hi,
Thanks for your answer. It worked (!), but now I have some issues with my Add-ons. I get "missinf script files".
This page https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/4.0/advanced/blender_directory_layout.html
shows, among others, where Blender stores the Addons for different Operating Systems.
You can Copy them from 3.6 to 4.0, but probably not all Addons will work out of the box with 4.0, some might need to be updated.
If you go into the user folder for blender and delete the 4.0 folder. When you start blender it will give you the splash screen with the option to copy settings. This will also copy over any addons, startup. configuration, application templates, and preferences that you have for 3.6. unless you want to do it manually.
Now 4.0 is officially released should I upgrade? The only non native add-on I've added is UV Squares
thehomme it depends. There are a lot of hotkeys, and UI changes in 4.0. which means some frustration when having to figure out name changes, new location of some options and figuring out new hotkeys.
