Hey Cookie Crunchers!
Just wanted to take a moment to extend a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. It’s not just the support you’ve shown us at CG Cookie that blows us away, but the incredible support you offer each other. Day after day, we see you answering Blender questions, sharing tips, and just being all-around awesome.
Your choice to learn Blender with us is something we never take for granted.
Your energy and enthusiasm make CG Cookie more than just a learning platform—it’s a community where creativity thrives.
So here’s to you, thank you for being the secret ingredient to our recipe!
Keep being amazing,
Wes
Co-Founder of the Cookie
Hey Wes! Thank you for your words :)
I think we are all very happy with the Cookie, both the courses and the teacher's feedback, and the community support is just awesome!
I only hope we all keep growing so we can one day become big and strong artist with lots of friends around the globe
Thanks to you for providing a place to learn. Thanks to the warm and welcoming teachers. Both the ones who choose to be here and those who were kidnapped... I mean inspired to teach her😁. Thanks to the community who follow the example set by your team.
Thanks to you, the great teachers at CG Cookie, who make this place what it is. I've only been here for a couple of weeks after following on YT for some time, but I already know I made the right choice and enjoy the courses.
So thanks and I look forward to keep learning to make cookies :)
Is there a page on the history and evolution of the site? I'm also a little confused by the membership - what's a CG Citizen etc.
Also I read recently about membership being sunset so does that mean in the future we have to buy each course to view it?
Hey thehomme, Welcome and great questions.
Re: Citizen - This was the original name of our subscription offering for CG Cookie back in 2010. The term "Citizen" still exists today, though admittedly, it is probably more confusing to new site members. In brief, Citizen is the Paid Subscription we offer today. The old tagline "Become a Citizen of the Cookie" was used.
We don't have any plans to sunset the subscription membership. Though it's hanging around, we are discussing ideas to expand upon it. We do offer some courses for a la carte on the Blender Market.
Wes
You probably read that from some old article? I might be super wrong, but I think it used to be called Citizen when you had a payed membership, right now you just have a membership and it's not called any fancy names? Either way, just like a Pokemon, the website has evolved plenty during the years, this is like version 8? And it'll probably keep changing until AI takes over and humanity has to hide in the center of the earth where it'll still be warm.
@wesburke having done a School of Motion course I definitely think you have the assets (people & courses) to compete with their offering if that's the sort of expansion you're pondering?
Omar - I didn't mean the site as such. More the company. It seems like JL has a full-time PM job so just curious around the set-up and who is (paid) full-time, who's a volunteer etc.
I think the kitchen is basically Wes, Kent, JL, Wayne and Paul. There's much more people behind the scenes, like 20 people I think plus some guest chef's every now and then, but your delicious cookies are basically prepared by that skeleton crew. Now I'm always out of the loop, so take it with a pinch of salt.
