UV noob issues!

Well after Summer holidays it all went to pot (no pun intended!) Had so much going on the Blender learning fell apart and feel I am back at square one and may need to do the tutorial again to get myself back up to speed! Anyhow when following this video I found out at the end that my painting seems to have affected other parts of my model. Is this an unwrapping issue or have I done something wrong and not separated them? Thank you

Yes, if when you lay a stroke other parts get that same stroke applied to them, you probably have an UV issue somewhere. You may have them one on top of the other. Sometimes that is good thing, in this case when it comes to Pothead, it's better if you have asymmetry and avoid the clear repetition that would come from painting the same thing on both sides. See if you can lay the UV's to make them unique islands.
