Hey Thomas, MMrMage750
Hope you are having a good day today...
I have read through the conversation on Discord, and 100% agree with phoenix4690 's handling of the situation.
Aggression, abuse and rudeness will not be tolerated in our community, regardless of who it is targeted towards or who it is from.
We don't always know the person behind the username. It is imperative we continuously strive to keep the CGCookie community a safe place for everyone.
I would like to point you to our Guidelines channel on discord, and specifically to the very first line of our ground rules:
⚠️ Be courteous and respectful of the opinions and feelings of others. Use of this Discord server is not an entitled right.
By downloading and using Blender, you are by association part of the Blender community. As it was stated by others on Discord if you would like Blender to be more functional to the way you like to work, ask for help with developing an add-on if needed. You never know, someone may already have the solution.
However, be polite and I'm positive the community will be happy to assist and share their experience and knowledge with friends in the community.
Aggression makes enemies,
Politeness makes friends.
I sincerely hope the things you are going through online and irl, as you mention on Discord, are resolved successfully and swiftly with a positive impact on return from your timeout.
Have an awesome day!
Ok when I read extremely rude and abusive, aggression, ruthless, I thought oh my god, this is a CG Cookie first then, we have a psychopath on the loose. I read through the conversation only to find meh ok, it's was not as bad as I thought, I think all of that put me on a different expectation, I thought there was an all out war. Yeah Mr. Mage was pretentious and kinda arrogant in his opinions, but in the end it was kinda guys disagreeing, stuff you see in sports or politics. I know culture has a lot to do with how we see this ordeal, where you're from, what you see every day. For me how people behave daily where I'm from, this for me personally was not a big deal, but in the end what really matters are CG Cookie rules. We trust Phil a lot around here, I know Adrian knows the rules better than anyone, so there's no choice but to abide by the rules. Perhaps Mr. Mage can be more sensitive next time and we ourselves can be more forgiving.
@Martin_bergwerf this is the very pretentious behavior I'm talking about, I was no worse than everyone else involved, the same could be applied to the others, and even phil by the standards I've shown, but appeal to authority and ad populum fallacies have spilled almost as much blood over the past 20 years as ad hominem, I had displayed none of those behaviors and I'm as neutral, positive, or negative as moderators respect their commumity, this is literal surpression of words and false flagging, if you seen what real discourtesy looks like, you'd be on my side, but ad populum and appeal to authority has deprived you of any rational thought, possibly for life
@adrian_bellworthy as I said before, the others were no better, but appeal to authority and ad populum always sours everyone's moods, no matter which side their on, the only two reasons why you and others trust him are because he has authority and is a popular user, take those two principles out of the question and you'd see the real face of truth
@Omar_Domenech of all people, I expected you to put all cognitive biases aside and value everyone equally, and you got pretty close to that until you fell up the same way these two did and appealed to authority and majority, but considering you displayed any neutrality at all, and a lot of it at that, you're just one reality check away from being the absolute best, however, it'll take years of service industry education in addition to the reality check before the other 2 will start learning integrity and empathy
Hey Thomas MMrMage750 I want to let you know that phoenix4690 and I discussed the behavior and both read through the entire conversation on the discord thread prior to a timeout being given. We are both community leaders of the discord I backed the decision prior to it being enforced. There were multiple requests in the conversation to change the subject and stating it wasn't being productive anymore. I've read through all of the chat multiple times and it became clear that the respectfulness towards wishing to change the subject was abused. Also respect for blender developers was abused. There are multiple discord community leaders in agreement here. Having said that, a timeout is simply an opportunity to take time out of the discord to reflect and change interactions.
Please take this time to think about how you can improve for the future and be respectful if a member of the community requests to change the conversation. If you would like to continue then you have other options, such as request to continue the conversation in a direct message with a particular member.
This instance aside I appreciate you offering help in other instances in the other discord channels. I hope you have a good week and we look forward to seeing you continue to contribute to the community with the best foot forward.
