Can't see anything really wrong so far, at least from the screenshots.. Maybe try creating a loop around where the ears will be...
(If I remember correctly, the ears are quite the challenge.)

And apart from everything, yes, starting over is always a good idea. If you feel you've reached a dead end, don't be afraid to start from the beginning. God knows how many times I repeated something until I got it right and each time I got a little bit better.
