HDRI

Question

Hi!

I imported this HDRI into my scene and I don't want to see it in the background as I model. The thing is that as soon as I disable it from the Viewport Shading, the lighting changes too. Is there a way to have the lighting from the 1st image while keeping the grey background?

Thanks.

    Hi Roxana ox ,

That's easy (if you know how):

Unless you're using Eevee, then you'll have to use a Light Path Node (doesn't do a lot in Eevee, but the Camera Ray works):

I am using Eevee and I've set up that node configuration, but I don't see any changes.

From what I can understand from your example is that I can change the background color to green (or any other color) and have the cube reflect the environment, but that is not what I want. Maybe I didn't understand your message or I didn't explain well what I'm looking for.

In the first image I posted the model was tinted a bit blue due to its environment and when I disabled the Scene World, the scene turned darker. What I want is to keep that grey background and at the same time have that blue tint (lighting) coming from the HDRI.

With Martin's setup that would be the result. You can see the background in any color you like while keeping the light spill of the HDRI you are using. The light path node set to camera ray is telling blender to use the B socket of the color mix only for viewing purposes, it's not actually changing the result of the HDIR, it's tricking Blender to change what you see, but not the actual light calculation. So you'll be able to keep the blue tint while visualizing any background color you like.

You are right, I'm sorry. Forgot to enable Scene World.

    Thank you.
