Particle Edit to Object Mode woes...

I'm pretty stumped with an issue regarding the edits made in Particle Edit Mode and then switching back to Object Mode and losing all the editing (see pics)

I made the various Steps values to all be 10 and that didn't do much. I have been testing a lot of the settings but nothing seems to be synching the Object Mode to the Particle Edit Mode  and was wondering if anyone knows what setting could be affecting this in Blender 3.3.7? TIA!

Oh yeah...also, since we modified the tentacles the lattices no longer fit the tentacles, so we would normally just delete them, correct? I'm not sure why we would need to keep them after we changed the tentacles. Maybe that will be addressed in the next lessons but I am just curious.

    My first guess would be, that you have Hair Dynamics enabled and that's messing with your Particle Edits...

    Hi Martin,

    I checked that off and the hairs got a lot sorter. I think I had to turn that on for the hairs to sow at the beginning.

    Funny how I have trouble with cg hair and real life no hair. 8^\

    Definitely un-check the Hair Dynamics and just make the Hairs Longer...There is even a Length Brush in Particle Edit Mode, you could try...

    It made it shorter only in Object Mode it had no effect in Particle Edit mode. Soething about Object Mode seems to be the hindrance, hmmm.

    The length brush from before only made the hairs rigid and unmovable. The hair dynamics was the saving solution to have the hairs to be abl to work with. I have the hairs edited and ready in Particle Edit, so why doesn't Object Mode lie it and distorts it? There is something Object Mode doesn't like and the Hair Dynamics isn't the cause.

    You can only change  the Hairs' length in Object Mode before Particle Editing...Maybe that's the issue?

    No, I haven't found the hair dynamic to the issue, it was actually the solution to a previous issue that made it work.

    I actually just found what it was, it was the Disk Cache. I have to check it in Particle Edit mode and then go into Object mode. It won't work if I check it in Object mode. I'm not sure what the Disk Cache is for, will have to investigate but it's the culprite alright. 8^]

    I know it's difficult to diagnose a problem, especially from 1000's of miles away and having to work with the limited descriptions and not seeing the whole picture. hanks Martin. I try not to bother anyone with these issues and try to figure it out and this was a weird one, not making any sense as to why it was acting like this, and I have never dealt with the hair particles and Particle Edit mode before

    Hey Brad,

    The Cache is created when you enable Hair Dynamics (and play the Simulation)...when then disabling the Dynamics afterwards, the Cache is still there...Clearing the Cache is always a good idea (also in Browsers), when problems occur...

    Changing some values can Clear the Cache, like changing the Simulation End Frame to the same as the Start Frame in this case:

    Thanks. I saw this message when I was working in the Particle Edit mode but ignored it and ironically it was the last thing I checked, I had no idea what it was saying but thanks for clarifying. When I put in 1 for the 250 it changed to "0 frames on disk" Thankfully everything's working well after switching on the Disk Cache.
