Skin modifier - mark root

When I add the skin modifier the profile isn't consistent. Using Mark Root makes different parts of the mesh thick but I can't get the whole length a uniform thickness. Any suggestions?

    Solution

    In the N panel, when you have a vertex selected, you can set the radius and get the uniformity manually. You can also do so with the hotkey Control + A.
