Using Sketchfab

Hi,

I’m getting close to exporting to Sketchfab, I never used it before though.

Just thinking ahead to know if I need to apply materials for exporting, so did you want materials added or can we have Sketchfab show the Solid Mode of the Viewport Shading , which has the Cavity option enabled to make it a lot easier to see everything when there’s no materials added.

Can we export the Solid Mode view into Sketchfab? Would it somehow be the Workbench render we would export and how would we do that? Is there a lesson in the archives that goes through the using of Sketchfab? I did briefly try Sketchfab but didn't see a way to get the Solid Mode view and I have limited use of Sketchfab and doidn't want to waste the limits on experimenting

Thanks

At least since the last time I uploaded to it, Sketchfab has its own engine, things directly out of Blender will not work. It will upload your model and read the material slots, but not the node editor and its nodes. In other words you have to make your own shading with the tools that Sketchfab offers. You can also bake your textures out of Blender and upload them into your materials in Sketchfab. Try it first with a simple model so you can start getting the hands of things.

Yeah, for this exercise you don't need to add materials if you don't want to. If you do want to, then just the default shader without textures would be best to keep things simple. Most importers and exporters should be able to read that, but it's been a minute since I've used Sketchfab so you may have to color your materials again after importing like Omar mentioned.
