In 3:18, If you are using Blender 2.75, hit Ctrl-Shift-LMouse won't connect the Fresnel Node to the output, and if you want to see the same effect as in the video, you have to connect yourself, and switch to material mode.

CTRL + SHIFT + LMB is a function of the "Node Wrangler" addon. Make sure that's enabled in
User Preferences > Addons > Search: Node Wrangler.
