Set pivot to Mask Border does not work

posted to: Posing

My apologies in advance if I am not able to see what's happening, but in my early steps in sculpting mode, I just have to struggle trying to see the mask shadow because a glitch in the program. Changing to Layout and returning to Sculpting it was solved. Glitches... But now I have an issue that makes me to being stucked in the process by the hand of Kent... When I try to put the pivot to the Mask border it is placed in the center of the character, not where Kent does. I think maybe this is happening because of the new version I'm working (3.5)/Kent is working with an older one. I do not want to give up but this type of things discourage me. Additionally, I am not comfortable due to some things are not explained at this point of knowledge for not being able to be proactive solving amateur questions like mine...

PS: Just to make a clarification:  I am following theSTEP BY STEP guided playlist... No problem until this point...

Just hang in there, at first is to much information to get into the head, but as you do it more and more it gets easier. If you want there is an even more basic Blender course you can watch. Linking up:

That tool is a bit finicky at times maybe. Make sure you have no unwanted mask parts first. But you can also do it manually with the 3D cursor I believe. Set the 3D cursor where you want it in the N Panel and set the pivot to the 3D cursor

thank you, Omar. I did this course yet. The problems arised with concepts not well explained like this... I solved yet touching I do not know what, but there are some processes like posing the arm, for example, that are not clear. Mesh got awfully twisted in my first try. The logic of how the software works is ignored. That makes a very poor learning process... It is a pity

I'm sorry to hear that man. But stick to it, Blender is an aircraft carrier of a beast, it has an insane amount of moving parts. Things will go wrong for you that wont go wrong for me and vice versa and teachers can't always guide you through every single mouse click. In time, and with practice, it'll all start to come intuitively to you. You'll stumble a lot in the learning process and again, what made you stumble wont be what made me stumble, good thing is teachers do try to cover a lot and you have a great community that will help you out and give you support long the way. You can join the CG Cookie Discord, it's a great place to ask for a helping hand.

Thank you for your support, Omar. I will persevere until I get it. I realize I could solve by my way the problem with the pivot yesterday. I hope my experience during several years throught autodesk, maya, clip studio etc prevails. Best wishes

Hi lleo_buit - I'm sorry to read about you're difficulty with this course and frustration with my explanations. Have you tried the version of Blender I used in the course? It's an easy way to eliminate a common variable of confusion. And it's applicable for all Blender tutorials (ours, Youtube, etc). We wrote an article about this.

Hi, Kent. Do not worry. I got overwhlemed that day easily, but I could solve it minutes later. Since then I've been going forward throught your course until the point I just got the early negative silhouette of the shark now. I am enjoying so much with your explanaitions and your work. My apologies, because this course is very helpful. Thank you so much for your attention. I wish I could be sculpting all the designs I have in the head soon. This program is amazing and so powerful! Best regards!
