Vertex Colors

Hi,

I’m using Blender 3.3.1 and see that instead of Vertex as an option in the viewport shading it has Attributes.

Same with the Nodes, there wasn’t a Vertex Color Node only an Attribute Node.

Would you know if there was a change in this version of Blender or have I missed something and I should be getting a Vertex Color Node?

also, the viewer node does not appear when clicking shift+ctrl_lmb. it just connects the 2 nodes. i do have node wrangler on. But it does seem to work without it as the Objects in Look Dev  are affected when the nodes are mconnected. I'm not sure if this is to be expected wuth the version I am working in though.

Thanks

Yes, the name has been changed, but the functionality is the same...

    In 2.93:

    now (3.3) looks like this:

    VertexColor3.png

The Input Vertex Color has been removed, but that was already the same as adding an Input > Attribute Node.

The Viewrer Node is no longer shown in the Shader Editor, when using SHIFT+CTRL+LMB, or when directly connecting a Color or so output to the Material Output Node, but it is still being used in the background/under the hood.

I know it's confusing, but stick with it and keep asking if you need more/better explanations.

Also if you're having trouble, you can always download the version of Blender being used in the course if you rather follow the tutorial step by step exactly as in the video.
