Archimesh

Question Modeling

Hi,

I am using Archimesh for the first time and I have a couple of questions regarding this add on.

I want to make some windows and I know you can change its settings from the N panel. Are those all of the settings one can change? Because I have this problem where the window acts like a wall and creates a shadow and does not let light through. When I look at the window from the other side, I can see it reflects the environment, but has this black tint to it and I can't see the room. Why is that?

Also, can I change the material of the window somehow?

I have this setup in the Shader Editor (but it doesn't change a thing)

Blender manual and other tutorials I've watched don't touch up on this. I was wondering if you could help me. Thanks

I haven't used that addon but sounds like that might be a normals issue. Though it's strange that if you add a window that it would come with flipped normals. Can you upload the file?

yes, here is the file. thanks

So if I take your objects and move them to a new scene, things behaving ok. That means the problem is local to your scene and I think it has to do with low light bounces. Try upping those until your light can bounce enough in your scene, specially the transmission. Maybe getting them to 4 or 5 bounces would be enough.

Omar is almost right...it's especially the Transparent Bounces in this case (the glass has two sides, so one bounce isn'rt enough)...this is the Default:

    Thank you! That solves it!

    Just as a further explanation:

the Glass Shader uses Transmission Bounces and the Transparent Shader uses (Duh) Transparent Bounces, the specific mixing of both Shaders you use, make, in this case, the Transparent Bounces more important...normally, with glass, it would be, like Omar said, the Transmission....

But setting everything to 1 is asking for trouble 😉
