Question for Jonathan :)

Hi!

I am currently trying to enhance my Blender skills and I am curious about the methods you used while studying Blender, specifically the mental models you developed, and the exercises or practices that helped you the most in understanding the concepts.

Please understand that I am not suggesting that I will reach your level of expertise in a matter of weeks; I simply want to learn from your experience and incorporate your best practices into my own learning process. I am aware that everyone has different learning styles, but I am hopeful that some of your techniques might be beneficial to me as well.

To help me get a clearer understanding of your approach, I would appreciate it if you could share:

1. Your favorite mental models or thought processes that facilitated your Blender learning.

2. Any specific exercises, projects, or challenges that you found particularly helpful in grasping key concepts.

3. Any resources preferred over others during your learning journey.

I am eager to hear your insights and learn from your experiences. I hope I'm not intruding too much. Thanks.

Hey Roxana, great questions! My process of learning Blender was quite messy and took way too long, so I'm not sure you'd actually want to follow my same path. My hope for these courses is that you can learn in months rather than years! I've tried to pack any advice I have into the courses, but in general, I'd say:

The end result is all that matters in CG. There's no such thing as cheating since it's all cheating to begin with!

Participating in challenges and contests and asking for feedback along the way was really helpful for me.

Just make as many projects as you can (but always take a break if you feel like you're going to burn out). Experience is still the best learning material.

We could chat about learning during office hours, which reminds me that I still need to get a time set up for mine. Will do that shortly!

    1 love
