eyballing confuses me on 5:08

At 5:08 you say you want it to be stuck on the ground. I don´t understand that. It seems you (just) eyeball an important part. When I do it gets jerky.

Is it supposed to stay on the ground until the other leg hits the ground? (would make sense, otherwise he could fly)

Can you please explain this for someone slow on the uptake?

    Hey mastart,
Yes you are correct, Wayne just means the back foot needs to stay on the ground slightly longer,
he then places the back foot on the ground and moves it back a little (eyeballing it)
Yours may look jerky if you haven't moved it back enough or too much

    Hey Martin.
Yep - exactly what Adrian said.

'Eyeballing' means just positioning it by eye rather than using some other tool.
If your's looks jerky, it means it hasn't been put in the right spot.

Hi Martin, of course I did... I already clicked on it ;-))

And it will be the next course I would like to start but first I have to finish the "old one"... I find it quite hard though to animate and make it look good. Thank you for pointing it it out to me.

    Yes, that is hard!

  • Wayne Dixon replied

    Yep - that's hard mastart

Just so you know, the new course is mostly the same although there are 2 new exercises (Ball jump, and Torque head turn)
I do think I have done a better job demonstrating the walk cycle - especially the Rivet version which is harder because of the translation forward.
The 'old' course will be disappearing soon - but I don't think we have an exact date yet. (It might be the end of next week?? But I don't know)

But if you get stuck - just ask.  That's what we're here for.

thank you for the warning, but you CAN NOT take down this course yet, otherwise I miss those 100 points. Can you imagine this?  Pleeeease try to gimme two more weeks. I try to hurry.

I am aware of the fact that it is mostly the same but I think I can not repeat those exercises enough.

and since I am here pegging for time ;-) Is there a course you can recommend for "character rigging". Since I try rigging I find it "easy" to rig a crane, a ball or a hard surface Object. I tried to rig my "doll" but I failed. Is rigging character in fact so different?

    thanks to everyone

  • Wayne Dixon replied

I'll make sure you don't miss any points - I don't know when the course will be sunsetted, but if that happens before you finish, we'll sort out any points for you.

Regarding rigging - I have more rigging content planned but it does take a while to produce this stuff.

I would recommend "How to rig anything with Rigify" by CGDive.  It will give you a good understanding of well.....the name says it all.
