Question Modeling

started doing the final paper for the Fundamentals of Blender Materials and Shading course.

first of all, the shape of the room does not work out. I think this is because I removed one side, and it was necessary to work immediately because of the X-ray.

I will start again tomorrow, because I don't like this option at all.

I will be grateful for comments and adviceпроба1.png

    Hi Natalia,

You're getting there! I think most people use an Orthographic Camera/View for the low-poly room, which makes a huge difference to the shape.

    Two things:

-there are parts 'crashing into each other' (overlapping Gemometry, that gives ugly, so-called 'Z-fighting'),

    and:

-the missing sides of the window frame look weird to me:

I really like the radiator 👍🏻

  • Natalia Tkachyk(TkachykN) replied

yes, I wanted to remove the overlap - it didn't work. and then she remembered that there was a binding there, maybe because of that. as for the windows, there is still a lot to change, and I will definitely add the frames.

thank you for the radiator) I have already thought of finishing it

  • Martin Bergwerf replied

You can use Vertex Snapping to move overlapping side 'back' along the X-Axis.

  • Natalia Tkachyk(TkachykN) replied

    I understand, I'm trying

  • Omar Domenech replied

Keep at it, it all feels alien right now but as you make mistake after mistake and figure out fixes, that's experience points that your brain will store and you'll level up. In no time you'll feel you've gone from Level 1 to Level 10.

  • Natalia Tkachyk(TkachykN) replied

you know, when I first opened the program, I thought I would never understand it. but the hours of study are already giving some results and I like it

I just divided the windows to understand the forms, and the frames will still be there

  • Martin Bergwerf replied

    Looking good so far, Natalia!

I agree, it's starting to look busy. I'm predicting some great results when finished.

I will try to complete it as soon as possible and move completely to the next courses

  • Natalia Tkachyk(TkachykN) replied

tell me, please,  how to remove black areas? I understand that either it came out due to an overlap, or I did something wrong in the grid, or the orientation of the normals, although I rotated them and the situation did not change.

I don't know if Google translated my question correctly, but I hope soрендер1.png

  • Martin Bergwerf replied

    Hi Natalia,

It does look like overlapping Faces, although it's a bit strange that they are so black (that might have something to do with the Materials). Try Deleting the Faces that are black in the Render.

  • Omar Domenech replied

I'd also say it's a second material slot and those faces inherited that material. If it is a second material, you can select all the faces and in the material of the walls just click assign. If you wish, you can also upload your file for us to take a look at it and figure out what's wrong.

  • Martin Bergwerf replied

Something like this (I have more than 2 Faces overlapping to get these black parts):

thanks for the advice, if it doesn't work, I'll download the file for a better understanding of the error

I teach the work that the teacher dropped. probably few elements, but for everything else that I wanted to add, there was not enough knowledge. Thanks for your tips in the processroom3.png

That's not bad at all Natalia 👍🏻The background is a bit dull, but the room turned out really well!

But, although I think I understand what you are trying to say, it certainly  looks like your translator was in need of some coffee 😉

  • Natalia Tkachyk(TkachykN) replied

a very large cup of coffee😅
