Everyone has had problems with the bevel so I have read all of the questions and answers.
I am not new to blender been using it for about 3 years but I still keep different versions of the projects.
I started this lesson with a new file with work that has been done, as you can see I have managed to bevel the buttons.
I come to about 12 minutes into this lesson and the bevels disappear.
I have checked all the normals and in the screenshot face orientation is turned on, apply scale, made sure that I am editing the edge data bevel weight, deleted and recreated the bevel also made sure it is visible.
Because I do not have much work to do having a different file for each lesson I might start lesson 4 again.
Hi cameramannz1986 ,
My guess would be that you have Clamp Overlap enabled and when you add new Edges to the Bevel, those are too close together. Probably a matter of Double Vertices. (After 3 years? 😉)
This is also mentioned here:

Thanks for the replies, Martin I forgot to mention that I selected the whole model and removed all double vertices by distance but there were none removed which to me means there were none to remove
Reading up on the problem of Clamp Overlap my understanding is that it happens when there are two edges that are close together.
This morning went through step by step the problem only happens when these 3 edges at the bottom are given a bevel weight.
Sounds like one or more of those edges is the culprit then! Clamp Overlap only takes into account edges which are actively being beveled, so if excluding those fixes it then the issue is in that area. Usually turning Clamp Overlap off will give a visual clue about where the problem is because it might look like a mess in one area, but if not I'd be happy to look at the file if you're able to upload it somewhere.
Turning off clamp overlap has fixed the problem, looking around on the model there are no places that I can see where the faces overlap
