Dubs' Blender Progress

Polybooks

This is my primative modeling challenge in the Fundamentals of 3D Mesh Modeling series! I do not own a telescope so I just winged it. :)

Nice looking results man. Congrats on sticking to it and finishing the course, and an old course for that matter which is harder still.

The results of my attempt at the exercise in the "Fundamentals of Digital Lighting in Blender". I think lighting is the area I have the most room for improvement so this course is a good resource for me.

Another great snowman with personality. He's from Sicily throwing up his arms saying c'mon you wanna piece of me!?

    Yeah, looks great Brian!

I am just noticing the reddish hue to the Subsurface Scattering(?)...those might be because you used the default values and they are more designed for mimicking human skin. Now usually, snowmen do not have bloodvessels (red) or fat (yellowy) and snow is given a more blueish tint to the SSS. (At the same time emphasizing the coldness of the snow.)

But maybe you did this on purpose, or it was a 'happy' accident....now he looks like warm and welcoming, with open arms and a friendly smile, but he is actually really creepy...did he get that red color from eating humans? It's definitely a fantastic horror snowman in my opinion!

    Again, well done!

Martin it definitely has blue as the dominant subsurf color. The sunlight seems to be involved somehow. The spot light on his back side doesn't have this effect. Hmmm

    Oh, weird...

Well I like the result anyway 👍🏻
