Screen Connected to top face

Question Modeling

I got through filling all the front areas, and then extruded and beveled all my buttons. I went to extrude my screen shape and realized the top of the screen shape is connected to the piece next to it so I'm not able to extrude the screen down. Is there anyway to go about disconnecting these edges? Screenshots below

The correct answer would be to press E when you want to Extrude it, not just try to move it down...

Yes, and also with the Y hotkey you can separate parts of your mesh.

If two faces are overlapping like this, the way I would generally solve it would be to delete the larger one, select the perimeter of the empty space (including the edges of the screen that are part of the new, non-overlapping shape), and then use F to fill it again.
