multires issue

when adjusting the base mesh or building the fake thickness on the hood it creates a lot of artefacts at the front which I can't get rid off, with and without multires on, any ideas please? thanks!

    Yeah a screenshot would be better to see what is happening. It probably is a lot of intersecting in the mesh. When that happens to me I go into sculpt mode and use the smooth brush so the vertices get comfy in their place and stop intersecting.

    Screenshot (5).pngScreenshot (4).pngI have noticed i have 2 verts separated around the ear area, and 3 on the inside of the mouth, (they're the duplicated verts that i must've forgotten to merge) when i switch off multires and fix those, then switch multires back on it creates those crazy artifacts like in the photo, the other ones are inside the mouth, visible when open
