Question Modeling

Hello,

I'm not sure how many questions one can ask, but I tried everything I know and I'm still stuck. Every time I try to extrude along normals, I get this issue where it seems like multiple faces overlap. If I try to extrude only that face, the issue does not reproduce. It's doing that when I try to extrude all of the faces at the same time.

Things that I've tried: recalculating normals, scale and 0 (that creates a bent that I don't wanT). I also re-did the whole bookshelf from the beginning, so my guess is I'm making the same mistakes every time.

Don't worry, there's no limit to questions other than what common sense dictates. There's no rules, but we shouldn't get to the point where we are basically doing your work for you. You have to get stuck and figure things out so your brain muscles get activated and have a work out session. That said, we're glad to always try and help you out.

In this case, it's simple what's going on, you have weirdly stretched faces. The selected vertices should be aligned where the arrow is:

So if you just pull those vertices in X and line them up, the faces doesn't get stretched anymore:

Fair enough. I'll take this into consideration next time. Thank you for your help.

Absolutely no limit on the number of questions you ask ox
Like Omar says, it's a good idea to have a go at trying to solve problems, but we are always here to assist.

Sometimes re-watching a lesson highlights the solution or something that may have been missed the first time.

    Always here to help!
    Happy Blending!
