Pothead (aged version)

Collaborations

The biggest project so far cause I had to make it from scratch with Jonathan Lampel.

I used the mouse to paint. I also used free texture so some of them are low resolution.

Thx for taking the time to watch my work!

Dude that is a great texture work. I love the rust and how it looks aged and banged up. The only small things that caught my attention were the red text on the forehead, it stands out too much, and the background, it makes a lot of noise and your model gets lost amidst all that chaos. Try changing those as an experiment if you have the time and energy, I know you've been working in it for a long while. But one last little push, if you can. But anyhow, the result is very awesome, congrats on your accomplishment Max.

I changed the background to a higher resolution. Check the new image. You can always check the blend file, there is other cool details that you can't see in the picture. :-)

The new image is better for sure. You can keep working on the lighting and composition. When you're not too sure about where to place your model, you can always use turn tables. Kent did a demo of that during the Spice Vendor Collab. Here's the link:

I don't understand what is a turn table.

I will make the short course of lighting. My plan was to make the realistic 3D faces course from Kent right after pothead.

Hey, I followed Jonathan advices. He thought that it was too rough, and that the bumps were too extreme. I gave another try. Maybe it's not perfect. It's a little more metal like.

Looking awesome, he's looking bright eyed to be in his natural habitat.
I think you should take a look at the lighting next.
The main light on Pothead is a little to bright and the background to dark, try and match them up a little better.
I think a fill light on his right side to lift the dark shadow a little, an area light with a low strength is all you need.

It's looking better with each iteration though. Give it another try I say.

You can tweak it for month.

The background is not in 3D. I will move on with realistic faces from Kent.
