Cases to use this workflow

Hello, could you please explain the main & real-life cases in which that workflow works best? For example why it's easier to make a customized shader for rust instead of just export model to Substance Painter and apply smart material there?

Well, for example, most people don't have access to Substance Painter and it's great to make things procedurally inside of Blender and being able to reuse it right there. Also when you have a client and you're making some freelance work, you usually have a tight deadline and it's great if you don't have to waste time settings things up from scratch. You can save up a lot of time if you have a library of shaders ready to go that it's just drag and drop.

Yeah, what Omar said! We essentially are making a smart material here, but in Blender, so you don't have to export anything and you can even skip doing UVs sometimes. If you save it in the asset browser, you'll be able to drag and drop the effect into any project.

    Thank you! Got it:)

It's much easier not to unwrap every model which needs shader & export it separately to some software from the outside. I'm just trying to get an idea of different workflows and when to use them
