I need an honest opinon of all that. Is there is too many small islands?

Should I make less seams?

Are the checkers in a good direction?

Are the seams well situated? Head texture

    Hi Max,

In general not too bad (amount of islands and Seams).

    Something is wrong here:

Fixed that and removed one more Seam. The blue/teal Edges are those where I removed Seams and the highlighted orange ones are where I added Seams (those colors are just for visualization!):

You might be able to Clear the Seam of one or two more Edges, but this is looking pretty good as far as I can tell.

Strange because the teacher doen'tg have as much islands. So having small islands is not a issue I guess. What are the exact criteria for a nice work?

Less seams and less islands with as little stretching as possible are generally best. Stretching is most important and every seam and island you can save are usually a plus.

The main goal is to fill the UV space as much as possible and some smaller islands can be used to fill in the gaps. If you, for instance have an L-shape island, consisting of 4 square faces, that will leave a lot of empty space on the square UV texture space, but if you separate one face off, you have two islands, that can fill the entire square.

Jonathan has of course a lot more experience than you or me and will be able to get more optimal results, but you result is good enough.

So I thought that there was too many islands for my head. I can't do exactly as Jonathan cause my topology is not the exact same. SO I have to understand instead.

TBH, I went and changed a lot of things so having similar issues where I've ended up with a few more islands than I would like but I'm very new to unwrapping things so I guess it comes with experience.  I've also added a lot of other items into my model so I'll have to try and do my best to unwrap each of them.
