Solution to extrude equally at a perfect angle between the X and Y axis.

Collaborations Modeling

This is a short video for a solution I found to trigger ideas.

There must be a more efficient way to do the same. Maybe you can find out what is better or even create a script out of it to make procedures even faster.

JJonathan Lampel Can you create a script out of it that you can make it as one operation? I would buy it.

That's all I could find with my limited knowledge.

I was able to extrude at a perfect angle right between the X and Y axis.

So what do you think?

Dude that is perfect, it's a great work around for a problem, very resourceful. I'm going to be doing that trick from now on. I'll call it the "Cady Normal" orientation. You'd do well in a desert or a third world country. You're a survivor.

    ROFL!

The Cady normal. If only I could create a script out of it to make this into one operation. Jonathan can do this for sure.

What do you mean I'm a survivor? It's true. You don't even know me.

Well, it's a trait of survivors to make about a creative solution from odd problems, your brain gets into resourceful mode instead of trowing the towel and calling it quits, your survival depends on it. I believe you have a better chance of developing this ability when you grow up in harsh environments and it's the only way to thrive.

it's true. I learn a lot with this pothead.

Like Omar already said, it is great that you find solutions like this yourself! And it's definitely a valid way, because it gets you the result you want.

There are many cases like this and each has its own 'easiest' solution, so making this into a script will probably not be worth it.

In this specific case, for instance, you could select that Edge Loop and press F to fill in a Face, that you can then simply move along its Normal or Extrude. Delete the Face when ready.
