Hey Guys, so I believe I am doing this part correctly, It's hard to tell if Jonathan has my same issue, however, my edges seem to create a shading that is not very appealing to the eye when implementing the shearing method. Please see below images for reference. What is the proper way to handle this issue?
Hey Omar,
It's the face occupying the space of another but given this shear, I think that's how it's supposed to be?
Blend File
Well, not exactly. You can use shear for a specific purpose, but this is not the desired outcome. Faces bent like that where they become tangled with one another is definitely something to fix, never a desired outcome. Can you point me in the video to the part where JL does the shear please? I'd like to see what exactly does he do.
Makes sense. Sure Omar! See below :)
Refining the Frame Pt. I - 1:55-ish you will see he begins the shear.
Ok I see. He sheared it but didn't get to the point where the faces crissed-cross. And after that he manipulated them further, taking them apart and stuff. So yes, avoid that type of behavior in your geometry. Don't worry about making mistakes when you're beginning, doing them over and over is how I learned what I had to avoid and what didn't work and why. Also don't be afraid to keep asking questions. You're making good progress with modeling the gun, keep on working.
