Subsurf causing Blender to crash

Question Modeling

Sadness. Maybe I won't be able to utilize 3.3. I tried to SubSurf my apple stem and Blender crashed. For kicks I tried SubSurfing the default cube... same issue. I can put just about any other modifier on the cube with no issue whatsoever, but try SubSurf and bye bye Blender.

Anybody else have this issue. I would really like to stay with 3.3 if at all possible.

My apologies for posting stuff that I could have researched prior. Per google, I was able to ascertain that going to Preferences>Viewport>Subdivision and uncheck GPU SubDivision, voila problem solved. Maybe it's because I haven't got a GPU?? Maybe this will help somebody else having the issues I guess.

    Hey Scott,

I haven't had that issue, but did you try to disable GPU Subdivision:

This is enabled by default and it is known to cause quite a lot of problems.

Yeah, it's about to take the troublemaker number one spot above the Bevel modifier.
