Hi Wayne, can you explain what prop bone do
Thanks!
Hello Fernando. If I understand correctly, it goes like this.... That robot's purpose in life is to pick stuff up, he exists for that reason. So imagine you have an Amazon box package that crane arm will grab and pick up. If you animate the arm, as it is picking the Amazon box and grabbing it, and the box has to be lifted up... well you have nothing to animate the box with, you would have to animate the box separately as it is being picked up to create the illusion that the crane arm grabbed it and moved it, since that Amazon box it's its own thing, not part of your arm rig. It's a separate "prop".
It would be useful to have something inside your crane rig, something you can parent your box prop to follow the crane arm. And that's what the prop bone does, it crates something you can parent your Amazon box to, or any other prop you want your arm to grab. So now you just parent the box to the prop bone and the box will follow and create the illusion it is sticking to the arms when it grabs.
Luckily that's how it goes and Wayne wont be disappointed and he'll be like yay you got it, I'm proud, if I could give you a million XP, I would, in fact don't worry, I'm going to check with Wes if that's possible and I'll be transferring them to you.
Well, I guess that is a question for Wayne. I doubt a video could be possible, but maybe he has a file with that bone being used as he was making the course? If so maybe that can be made available? I don't know, but I suggest you try it out with a simple box primitive, see if you can make it grab it with that prop bone. I bet Wayne would love it if you post that exercise result somewhere.
