Hello Blenders

This is my personal project number 2.

I’ve just imported the below diamond ring .stl file into Blender.

And I've recently started the Fundamentals of Blender Materials and Shading.

I'm thinking that diamond materials, shading and texturing etc is fairly specific.

Can anyone suggest a start point or can direct me to specific lessons?

My very best,

Jason

    Hi Jason,

Check out the Shader Forge series here on CGCookie. There is a dispersion part, that is very typical in diamonds.

Hello Jason. The Shader Forge series should do the trick, specifically the Dispersion lesson. I'll link you up:

    Martin & Omar

Thank you both once again for answering my question. Are you two the main go to people on CG Cookie or are there others?

I’ll watch The Shader Forge Series. In the preview video they are using an old version of Blender so I'm worried that all or some of the info is out of date?

    My very best,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

For this series especially, the older version shouldn't be much of a problem; you still have access to all the Nodes that are being used.

And if there are any problems, feel free to ask.

We are not the only two; there are four ACEs (often the first ones to reply, but we do not know everything): Adrian Bellworthy, Shawn Blanch, Omar Domenech and myself...then a whole community of helpfull Citizens...and of course the fantastic Instructors themselves..

When you ask a question, the relevant people will respond.

Yes Jason, we ACEs are here to help out the good citizens of CG Cookie. We fly in the digital space and with our super hearing abilities we attend to the wailings of those in need. And then is off to the skies again, ever in attendance, ready wherever we are required.
