Broken Linked Object?

Question Modeling

I have several empties that are showing models.  They are selectable (as empties), and can be duplicated, transformed in position/rotation/scale.  However there is no way to EDIT them.  Any attempt to edit linked library item results in nothing.   I want the models to become native to the file, but apparently there is no external reference.  What do I do?

    Hi @esao ,

What version of Blender are you using? You can make a Library Override and then Make Local, but the exact steps might differ slightly between the latest versions...

That has become a little convoluted, it used to be more simple. What always works for me is go to Object -> Apply -> Make Instances Real. Then after that go to Relations - > Make Local - > Selected Objects And Data.

Basically what your telling Blender is to make your object real and part of the scene. There's other options now and it used to be one step instead of several. Admittedly I always just hit a couple of those without knowing exactly why it is now like that and at least it all works out.  Hope that helps.
