how do we move around if we have no mouse, and instead we have a mouse pad

OK I literally started using this for the first time an hour or so ago.. (so this is the only video I have watched so far) and I also only have a mouse pad to use. but I don't know where to see the user preferences.

nvm found it but I don't know how to use the user preferences thing :'
