Blender’s scale for STL export for 3D Print

Question Modeling

Hey there, just trying to export a model out correctly for 3d Printing using Blender 3.1.2 .

But when I send it to the printing company they say the scale is out by a factor of 1000000.

As a simple example, here’s the settings I have, ie settings are in mm, everything has had transforms applied, Blender’s Unit Scale is a 1.0, but when imported say into Cura it auto scales to 1000000% , am I missing something?

    Hi Ross,

I have no 3D print knowledge, but when I export as an ascii file, so that we can read it, Blender seems to eport the vertex positions in meters, even though everything is set to mm:STL.png

But Cura thinks those are mm and autoscales it up, because the object is way too small (0.002mm).

Look at the resulting size of your object(s) in Cura and if necessary adjust the Blender Unit Scale, or change the settings in Cura...apparently, you can enable import small objects or so, to prevent the auto scaling...

Sounds all a bit annoying and maybe you can ask the Addon developer or even report a bug (in the Addon, where you enable it in the in the Preferences, there is a button 'Report a Bug")...

Hi Ross. I can imagine you have gone through some Friend's jokes.

I found this interesting short article that seems to hold the answer. Looks like someone was having the same problem you described. I hope it solves your problem as well.
