Advice for adding Voices & Audio for Blender cartoons.

Question

I would really like to make some short cartoons with blender animations, but now I'm scratching my head on the audio side.  Normal google searches aren't that much help, so what do you guys do?  (Looking for free stuff at the moment)

I'm currently looking at voice acting coaches on YouTube & I have some work to fix my slur, but I cant find much on voice changing software. I've only played with some junky programs, I'm hoping there is something better out there. Keep in mind I doubt even the best software is only going to able nudge the my voice.  All I'm finding online is crap for twitch streamers, nothing for audio editing.

Anything would greatly appreciated, like background music or sound effects, I've currently found Audacity & the youtube sound library.

I haven't played with it much, but Audacity (audacityteam.org) might be worth a look.  It is also free and open source.

Yeah that's a hard one, the audio side in the 3d pipeline is a different discipline. I have only done a little audio and I just search for stuff on google and see what free things pop up. Maybe you can have better luck asking the Blender Cloud folks, they do audio production for their open source movies. The only time we have done audio was Phil recording his voice for the Spice Vendor House short and he did it himself.

I haven't done any audio for animation yet, but coming from music, I really love REAPER. It runs natively on windows, mac, and linux. It isn't a free program, but I think that currently there is a free trial for 30 days, and a discounted license for (USD $60) for personal use/commercial use under USD $20,000 yearly gross profit. The license you purchase lasts for the current and next version.

It comes with its own set of EQ's, compressors, reverb, etc. Like other DAWs, you have the option of installing your own plugins as well for effects. Although, if you happen to be running a linux distro, getting external plugins to work can be a bit challenging, since there is currently not a lot of commercial support for linux native plugins.

That might seem like a sales pitch (I don't have any connection with the company.) I've just been using it for years and really love the simple workflow it provides for recording and editing music, and I think it would also work for your purposes.

Hope this helps to at least give you more info and options :)
