Create new N-Gon question should be fixed

The question on which tool can create new N-gons was a little confusing. Extrude, inset, and subdivide technically do so? Maybe change to select the tools that will create new N-gons? something like that?

I removed subdivide from the list since that one definitely can, but I don't think extrude or inset will ever make new n-gons that weren't there before. I'll also update the question to be more specific. Thanks for the catch!

Ok so it looks like the new question is:

Which tool can create new n-gons from quads or triangles?

    Bevel

    Inset

    Extrude

    Loop Cut

My answer would have been the Knife tool but unfortuanately that wasn't an option. Jonathan seems correct when he says "I don't think extrude or inset will ever make new n-gons that weren't there before". Since the Loop Cut tool won't cut through a triangle, that leaves only the Bevel tool. Now if I add a cube (quad) to my viewport and bevel it, triangles appear in the corners. Is this an example of what the question is asking? If not, could someone provide a good example. Thanks!

You can also get triangles from the bevel tool, but when it comes to n-gons, it's quite common when beveling a single edge:

I believe the bevel tool video is the only one out of the options that warns about creating n-gons, so the question should match up with the lessons.

Thanks Jonathan! , "when it comes to n-gons, it's quite common when beveling a single edge:", is what I was missing. Your photo hammers it home!

i just finished the second quiz. both failed multiple times i dunno if i am that stupid but prob. got language issue too . i also picked the knife tool but when i was think any other tool . i was never automatically thinked that the n-gon are allready exist. when i imagined bevel tool it was a square. insect too.  i meet tool introduction in the free course and this one too . and it never mention that if the quare got bevelled in the side .and extrude it the extrude become an n-gon

That is hard to understand, language barrier is for sure an issue. Most people use DeepL for translation, it works great, you can check it out. Write what you want to say in your own language, it will give you the English translation and you copy paste it here. 🤘🏼

Question is still confusing imho. Because I was looking for an answer where you would *want* to do that. So an "can *accidentally* create N-Gons from" might do the trick?
    • Yes 👍
