Blender 3.1 Error

Question

I am getting a "not responding" error.  Computer is updated with the latest drivers and graphics card.  Any ideas on why this is occurring.

    Hi Denise,

    you're on Windows, right?

That means that Blender is busy calculating and isn't responding to your 'interrupt'. It is saying something like: "I'm busy right now, plaese try again later..."

It's not an error. Just wait and hope Blender doesn't crash.

There is a limit to how much a computer can do and you might be reaching the border.

If you get that message when trying to delete the Default Cube, then you probably need to upgrade your computer.

    Hey LLeroytex,

    When does this happen?

Does it not respond when you open Blender, or when rendering?

Make sure you update your graphics driver from the manufacturer's website, do not rely on the basic driver from Microsoft.

A recent MS Windows update caused me some issues, I always have auto update paused, and run it when it is convenient for me.

So I can easily troubleshoot issues.

    What are your system specs?

Do you meet the minimum requirements outlined /requirements/?

One thing you can look at is the page file management. This will help when rendering with with less RAM.

In the taskbar search, type 'performance', and select adjust the appearance and performance of Windows,

In the performance options window, select the advanced tab, and click the change button,

Make sure the 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives' is selected.

    performance_2.png

A paging file on the drive is used as additional RAM.

Even though I have 32GB of RAM, I still need this when rendering complex scenes.

The recommended amount is always too low, as you can see by the currently allocated on my system.

When you have done this, click OK, and Apply. You will need to restart your system.

    Hope this helps!
