Cloth Simulation Help

Question Animation

Hello,

I'm trying to use the cloth simulation for a shirt on my character, however, no matter what settings I change it still looks like he is standing in front of a very large fan (mainly the sleeves).  I don' have much experience at all with cloth sim, so any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you

    Hey Shannon,

It takes a lot of trial and error to get the settings right, a lot of the settings will depend on the size of the model, and I usually apply the scale when working with cloth. The collision distance can become quite microscopic otherwise, which can cause this type of behaviour.

If you haven't already, try scaling up the shirt a little, I am guessing  you would have duplicated part of the body mesh when modeling the shirt, this will mean the shirt is within the collision distance from the start.

I would also suggest try turning off self collisions, and increase the stiffness tension.

You could also, try moving the solidify modifier below the subdiv.

There are some preset options, select one closest to what you need and then make small adjustments to best suit your needs. Then you can name your cloth and click the + to add your own, wool, lycra or any other material.

    Hope this helps.
