how did you get the x y z on the tail

    Correct spikeyxxx, for the global axis for the armature.

    However for the individual bone axis, which you will use in edit mode and pose mode, you will find the option under the Object Data Properties tab > Viewport Display.

    Yes, the new default display position for the axes is at the head of the bone rather than the tail.

    This is much more logical, but you can slide it along the length of the bone with the 'Position' attribute.
