Blockout question. (simple) To Jonathan Lampel

Why making a blockout collection if we model the high poly? Is it a waste of time?

Visualizing and simplifying the meshes before you go into details. :)

Yes, Vue is right! You can sometimes go right to the high poly, but if you do that you run the risk of making hasty design decisions and sticking with them if you've put too much time into it. It's generally better to get the design and proportions figured out in a way that's easy to edit before fully committing to spending the time making the high poly which will be difficult to edit later.

thx. So we have to make blockout for every of our project project?

Cause if I remember correctly, Kent Trammell for the industrial design, he did not madea blockout version. So as a beginner I am mixed up between 2 teachers. Don't get me wrong, you are a very good teacher and I like to follow the way you express yourself.

You don't need to do it for every project! In the case of the industrial design course, each piece is relatively simple and easy to modify. If you watch Kent sculpt a character on the other hand, he starts out simple and then adds detail later, and it's the same type of process here. It's up to you if you want to block something out or not, but the more complex the shape the more it'll be helpful and save time in the long run.

    ho thx.

I will follow Kent Trammell's course as to how to make realistic 3D faces. I want to finish pot head first. I can spend a lot of time just for one video of 30 minutes cause there is a lot of questions that pops up in my mind, some of those those that I need to find out by myself. It will get easier over time.
