Many small questions here.
1-What is the triangle at the top of the pot mesh?
2-Is it possible to make a square with subdiv for the hole I made?
3-Why my subdiv is up to 2 and it's not as smooth as the teacher? I have to put it up to 4 to make it as smooth.

1. I don't know, but could it be part of the inside of the pot poking through?
2. Not a good idea, the corners will be rounded so much, that it is more of an oval than a rectangle with rounded corners.
3. Your Object is set to Shade Flat in stead of Shade Smooth. (You need to be in Object Mode to change that; Object > Shade Smooth.)
thx spikey.
1-Even with the file, you couldnt spot the problem of the triangle??
2-My question was badly asked. I updated it.
My question was rather: Is it possible to make a perfect square with subdiv activated? Cause what is strange, is the teacher was able to make a hole that is more of a square than mine. And my topology is quite similar...
3-Of course LOL! There is so many things to think about, that I actually forgot the shade smooth.... duh...
maxcady sorry, I didn't see the file (or at least didn't recognize it as such...).
ad 1. The triangles are caused by the Blockout. Best to disable the Collection when not needed:
ad 2. I understood that, but you'll need 'holding edges' near the corners to tighten them:
This is because of how the Subsurf Modifier works; it calculates the midpoint of the Edges and connects them and then calculates the midpoint of that connection and connects it to the corners and then moves the corner to the midpoint of that last connection:
This is the basic behavior, but by default, in Blender, the Modifier moves everything even more 'inwards', towards where it would end up after infinite many repetitions of that process. This is a Setting under advanced:
Thx. But there is a bug on the website or google chrome. Here, I can't send images or read them. I can't see your images. But on the community forum, I can and there is no problem. I will try to check in the community for this answer and see if that helps.......... Ok. I just checked on the community forum and I still can't read the images... I will try to log in with firefox. :-(........ Tried with firefox. I still can't get access to your pics.... :-(
