Hello Jonathan.
Thanks for this great project, I just finished it but I'm having two problems. I hope you can help me.
1-. The mesh has a weird surface that get worst when I render, basically it's not even.
2-. I don't know what did I do but the camera doesn't work, if I select the camera, press 0, I go direct to inside the mesh.
PS: I'd like to upload some screen-captures but I don't know how to do it.
Hey @joluvian ,
First to the PS, to upload a screen capture, you can use the viewport render option. Top left of the 3d viewport is the View menu. You will find in the menu a viewport render option. This will give you a render of the 3d viewport as you see it on screen, no camera or lights required.
You can add the image here using the add image tool.
An image maybe useful to help answer question 1. It maybe the normals or it maybe the the surface is not flat. Try recalculating the normals. Also take a look at the Object Data Properties, under geometry data. If you see clear custom split normals data, click the button. It should be add not clear. If it already says add custom split normals, then its not that problem.
With the camera, by pressing 0 on the numpad the view jumps to camera view, you want the camera to move to the current view as you look on screen (1 - front view), for this you need to press 1 for front view, then CTRL+ALT+0 for the camera to snap to the position to match the view.
If this doesn't solve your problem, try again uploading some screen shots.
Hope this helps.
Ad 2.: maybe you have Local Camera enabled:
This means that Suzanne is used as "Camera' and pressing 0 will move the view into the Mesh.
Good point spikeyxxx ,
Pressing CTRL+0 will make the selected object the active camera,
If you had the mesh selected, that would become the active camera.
Hello guys! Thanks for your help. Images attached.
I could fixed the camera issue, although I still don't know what to do to fix the front wave surface, I already check the faces and the vertex on the horizontal view, they are aligned.
Also the Object Data Properties, looks like it isn't the problem. When I started 3D (many years ago) I learned to do everything with with faces of 4 sides, I think I did something wrong here trying to learn a new method. I'm tempted to redo it from scratch.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Jonathan, Thnak you so mucho, for all your help. I really appreciate it.
I also initially had the same issue with the weird shading around the D-pad. I ended up fixing by adjusting my Auto Smooth angle - I ended up with an angle of 27 deg. With the edges marked sharp that we did, it ended up not being a problem.
Thanks for the course, Jonathan! I didn't really do anything different for my model (other than giving the text a different material), so it won't be too fun for you to look at, but I learned quite a lot. Thanks so much!
That's a great result as well mmcglsr2 , glad that solved it and congrats on finishing the course!
