Question about parenting and join

posted to: Parenting

use Ctrl + P to parenting

use Ctrl + L to joining

it seems like that joining will inherit transformation as well as texture ,whereas parenting only inherit transformation

just wondering what's the main difference between these two ? and is there any thing that i should pay attention to ?

Thank you

The hotkey for joning is: CTRL+J!

This makes two or more Objects into one. It will take the Name and Modifiers of the Active Object and keeps the colors as they are.

    Joining these two Objects:

    will give:

    Join2.png

But changing the Active Object to be the Plane:

    will result in:

When Parenting, you will keep the seperate Objects, but when you Transform the Parent, the Child(ren) Transform(s) along.
