I have some ideas for making models of buildings, that I tried with the array modifier, but I want to translate into geometry nodes. Multiple storeys, repeated windows along the wall, repeated patterns of ceiling tiles for instance.
I find the tutorials on YouTube limited, and find no tutorials here.
Things that confuse me:
The "point instance" node is deprecated with the new version, so older tutorials are not usable.
When I try to make an array of objects, their size and orientation are all screwed up and I don't know why. (everything comes in 90 off in some direction, and not the same size as the original object}
What can I do to get started?
Geometry nodes are still new and still in development ,so there will still be changes to come.
I heard on the grapevine, or somewhere I think, @jlampel was aware of creating a GeoNodes course, but I believe it may not be for a while.
There are a couple of tutorials on CGCookie YouTube , by Chris Bailey. He also has a few on CBaileyFilm YouTube.
I am going to second this there needs to be at least a basic course on Geometry nodes. This is a very powerful feature that I would love to learn more on how to use properly.
Yes vote #3. CGCookie does it best! ;)
[Lots of tutorials say "you can do this", but few say "why". After lots of floundering, I've recently discovered some clues about "why"/"how it works". This kind of fundamental understanding has the highest value.]
